Tilly Mouse lives under an opera house, and she just loves to sing! Her dream is to perform onstage. But whenever anybody sees her, they scream and run away. With determination, imagination, and help from her friends, Tilly proves that even a mouse can be a star. In honor of the holiday season, this seasonal edition of the show features music from Tchaikovsky’s 'Nutcracker' and Handel’s 'Messiah' along with arias by Mozart and Puccini.

DC Metro Theater Arts

for a previous production "An engaging storyteller, a gifted soprano, and a natural with children, Melanie Gall brings her warmth, talent, and stage presence to 'Opera Mouse,' a delightful solo show that she wrote and performs...At about a half-hour running time, 'Opera Mouse' is a great length for a child’s attention span. It’s quick, cute, and to the point, as it entertains and educates. Even if you’re not a kid, this show is a real charmer." Full Review

Broadway Baby

for a previous production "The idea of producing a show about opera for children seems an odd choice, but Gall pulls it off with, well, gall. She is a very talented singer and skilfully blends snippets from famous pieces together with a puppet mouse who enjoys ear massages. Added dynamism could perhaps be found with an additional performer and an extra 10-15 minutes of performance, but what we have already is very good...'Opera Mouse' is a very enjoyable half hour." Three Weeks Edinburgh

for a previous production "A delightful way to spend a morning. Children giggled and sang along, and there wasn’t a face in the audience that didn’t have a smile on it – this is a show for children that the grownups will enjoy too. Melanie Gall gives a confident, professional and, above all, entertaining performance...‘Opera Mouse’ is a fun tale about following your dreams and supporting your loved ones as they follow theirs. Fantastic fun, and a fantastic way to introduce your little ones to opera." Full Review

Fringe Review (UK)

for a previous production "Gall's determined to demystify the genre which she emphatically does through what is a nicely conceived and enthusiastically delivered introduction to opera through the eyes of Tilly, a glove puppet mouse...It’s a simple premise...Gall does this with enthusiasm and real warmth, connecting immediately with the three tots in the front row...It’s a first-class introduction to a genre that needs to work much harder at capturing the young–and keeping them."
