A family wedding in Iowa exposes tensions of race, safety, and belonging on the eve of marriage equality.
Set in Iowa in the year before the U.S. Supreme Court recognizes marriage equality, the play centers on Andy, an ACT UP New York veteran, and his husband as they prepare to host their nephew Brendan’s wedding to Eugene.
The play is written by Barry Boehm, whose work frequently explores contemporary LGBTQ+ lives through intimate family dynamics. It is directed by Mark Finley, Artistic Director of The Other Side of Silence, who has led the company for over two decades and has been central to its mission of preserving and advancing LGBTQIA+ theatrical history.
