A musical adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's story of a man born old and living life in reverse, performed by actor-musicians.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button follows a man born in old age who moves through life in reverse, growing younger as the world around him ages. Relocated from Fitzgerald's original American setting to a Cornish fishing village on the coast of Great Britain, the production traces Benjamin's life and an unlikely love story set against the rhythms of a close coastal community. The story is brought to life by a company of 15 actor-musicians.
The production is written by Jethro Compton and Darren Clark, whose work on the show earned them the Olivier Award. Following a highly acclaimed West End run, the musical makes its North American premiere at The Public Theater. The adaptation reimagines F. Scott Fitzgerald's original story while retaining its central conceit of a life lived against the current of time.
