About the Show

The Farm Theater presents a new drama about a rudderless twenty-something New Yorker struggling to find his place in an increasingly challenging world.

In high school Sean was voted Most Likely to Succeed. Ten years later and not where he expected to be in life, he reunites with his high-school buddies at the launch party of their friend's hugely successful app. Set in a world consumed by social media. 'The Floor Is Lava' follows a group of millennials struggling with success, jealously, and the true meaning of connection.

Don't see it if You want to see a show where everything comes up roses.

See it if you enjoy intelligent dialogue and intense confrontation between old friends.

Don't see it if you often think plays are overwrought. The characters can seem a little too overly reactive to situations at times. Still great.

“All four characters are gratifyingly nuanced and multifaceted…This richness of character is enhanced by excellent performances…There is a stretch where 'The Floor Is Lava' seems to be headed in an atypically dark direction before it moves back onto a safer, more familiar narrative path. But it does avoid neatly resolving everything at the end, and its strong, layered characters are intriguing and enjoyable to watch.”
