About the show

Presented by Abrons Arts Center and Tele-Violet, this new multimedia piece represents the third and final part of a collaborative project exploring how humans watch, hear, and perform emotion. More…

'The Apartment' is informed by an Alexander Kluge film of the same name, the director’s experience as a juror on a criminal trial, various operas including Wagner’s Ring Cycle, and an ongoing exploration of acting style and method. Musicians and actors take center stage in this story of a fight between two women that leads to an apartment fire.

Avg Score

Absorbing, Ambitious, Intelligent, Avant-garde, Great writing

See it if You'd like an eclectic and experimental take on Wagner's "Ring Cycle" accompanied by a small live orchestra

Don't see it if True-crime, episodic theater doesn't appeal to you. This play followed more an extended meditation on emotion than a linear plot

Intense, Complex, Confusing, Great acting, Experimental

See it if you enjoy experimental theater, Wagner's Ring Cycle, and intense/intimate performances

Don't see it if you're not open to a non-linear plot or a stream of consciousness production style
