Transport Group presents a revitalized version of the musical tale of Margaret “Molly” Brown.
From the show:
This is Molly as she really was: vibrant, progressive, and ready to fight for the underdog as a champion of women’s rights, labor rights, and immigration reform. Transport Group’s production, starring Beth Malone, marks this show’s off-Broadway debut, and the first production in New York since its Broadway premiere in 1960.
See it if This show deserves 100. The star cast, the songs old and new, the story...parts of Act 1 had me on the edge of my seat!
Don't see it if traditional musical theatre is not your cup of tea, although this show is like drinking tea with whiskey ;)
See it if you've never seen the amazing Beth Malone before; you like strong female characters and diverse casts packing a big play onto a small stage.
Don't see it if nonstop energy exhausts instead of invigorates.
See it if you enjoy musicals. Can follow a story that condenses about 60 years into 2 and a half hours (which was done really well)
Don't see it if you don't like musicals, or very strong female characters.
See it if you enjoy old school musical comedies and/or shows that chronicle the lives of real people. (Also see for Beth Malone’s star performance)
Don't see it if you prefer more modern musical theater that deviates from the same tired musical comedy formula or only like shows that are large spectacles
See it if the show was a delight. great acting, singing, staging..delightful feminist quips. a lot of very talented people!!
Don't see it if no reason not to see it
See it if This classic musical theatre done right. The production shines in this first rate revival. Beth Malone is a force to see.
Don't see it if If you find traditional musicals boring then this is not the show for you.
See it if You want a fun night out. Beth Malone is super. Music is very upbeat. A lot of dancing, staged well. Good costumes and sound system.
Don't see it if You expect a revival of the 1960 show or the 1964 movie. -- the book of the show is very different. Or if you are turned off to immigrants.
See it if You love a gritty piss and vinegar gal with a beautiful voice and a full heart. Lots of star moments in dance and song.
Don't see it if you want a serious drama or don’t enjoy a woman wanting to save all souls.
See it if You're a Beth Malone fan who enjoys Meredith Wilson musicals. It's not going to knock your socks off, but it will leave you with a smile.
Don't see it if You expect musicals to cast people who can sing AND act.
See it if You like a Terrific, solid Bway musical—or if you don’t—this might convert you. Beth Malone is amazing as is the cast, choreo & direction.
Don't see it if You’re too attached to the original which didn’t do Molly Brown justice. Fresh new show, this; modern, feminist & fun, amazing voices. Go.
See it if you dont mind one good song surrounded by really bad writing & one dimensional characters. Mind blowingly bad writing. 10 yrs in the making?
Don't see it if you need real human drama with your music. This writer proselytizes and treats the audience like children. Insulting all around. My 1 is
See it if for spirited, spectacular Beth Malone. What a voice! Rousing prodn numbers by K. Marshall. Moving ending. Molly's gr true-ish American story
Don't see it if you want a gr book; still problematic. Gets draggy; needs cuts. Ensemble didn't gel. Ugly costumes/sets. Very enjoyable, but room to improve
See it if Great talent. Well produced show.\ with an interesting story. Malone & Damane are superb. very traditional
Don't see it if The music is not particularly great nor memorable. It could stand a 15 min cut at least to pick up the pace.
See it if You have never seen Molly Brown. I enjoyed the story & found it interesting. She let quite a life. Very talented cast, great voices.
Don't see it if You aren't in the mood for a traditional or classical show. The book was updated but I felt they should have shortened it.
See it if You’re a fan of old style musicals. This has it all...great singing and dancing, great music, lovely sets and costumes, great direction.
Don't see it if I think the only reason you wouldn’t like this would be if you were looking for a play rather than a musical or looking for something edgy.
See it if u want to see the indefatigable Beth Malone in a fresh & lively (if overly long) revitalization of Willson's classic (& dated) musical.
Don't see it if ur a linguist [Accents are all over the place]; ur not a fan of unabashedly corny, old-fashioned musicals; u expect Willson's original show.
See it if Malone is indeed unsinkable even as this redo of Willson's original is tonally adrift Engaging & energetic (male chorus) it's all Molly!
Don't see it if Scanlan's "thoroughly modern" remake (book & new songs) highlights the new woman yet it can't seem to unite book to music & solid staging
