Richard Wagner's Tristan und Isolde is a transcendent meditation on love and death. In this new production, soprano Lise Davidsen takes on the role of Isolde, with tenor Michael Spyres as Tristan. The staging is directed by Yuval Sharon, making his Met debut, and conducted by Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin, leading Tristan und Isolde at the Met for the first time. Mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Gubanova reprises her portrayal of Brangäne, with bass-baritone Tomasz Konieczny as Kurwenal and bass-baritone Ryan Speedo Green debuting as King Marke.
