Employee of the Year, by 600 Highwaymen.
Five young girls tell the story of J., whose house burns down, taking with it everyone and everything she has ever known. From this moment, a singular journey begins. Featuring the original songs of David Cale.

The Institute of Memory (TIMe), by Lars Jan/Early Morning Opera
Featuring archival wire-tap transcriptions, the missives of communist spies, and MRI brain scans, conjures a portrait of director Lars Jan’s enigmatic father — a Cold War operative whose fascinating story prompts questions about privacy, memory, and fatherhood.

The Art of Luv (Part 1): Elliot, by the Royal Osiris Karaoke Ensemble
Elliot Rodger killed 6 people and injured 13. ROKE responds with a ritual-performance based on a cycle of found love stories — a meditation on masculinity, love and longing that confronts humanity's common search for love as we misunderstand it.

Ambitious, Edgy, Relevant, Great writing, Entertaining

See it if You like edgier shows, with topics often unexplored. My 1st viewing was on 1/5/17. A solo performance of a man, w/ cerebral palsy & dating.

Don't see it if You're opposed to topics that may make you feel uncomfortable. Non-family-friendly shows. Small theatre... Artsy productions..

Original, Ambitious, Thought-provoking

See it if you want to see form-forward, boundary-breaking theater. The numerous shows that get presented in this fest are brilliantly curated.

Don't see it if you prefer your theater to follow standard rules and forms.

Absorbing, Ambitious, Delightful, Enchanting, Entertaining

See it if groundbreaking theatre from around the world that deviates from the norm is your style

Don't see it if you prefer your theatre tame with the same old tropes.

Original, Absorbing, Ambitious, Clever, Intelligent

See it if The shows I saw at this years Under the Radar were the most interesting, inventive shows that I saw in New York in the last year.

Don't see it if You're not willing to take risks in theatre. If you want to see something safe.
