A family gathers on election night in Richard Nelson's latest Rhinebeck Panorama play.
Set on the evening of the the 2026 midterm elections, We'll See follows the Apple family as they gather for dinner at Barbara's home in Rhinebeck, New York. As the family waits for election results, they share stories, catch up on each other's lives, eat, sing, joke, and reflect on the ordinary moments of the day. Throughout the evening, they grapple with questions of identity, politics, and the ways people define themselves in relation to others.
Written and directed by Richard Nelson (The Apple Family plays, The Gabriels, Illyria), We'll See is the latest installment in his ongoing The Rhinebeck Panorama, a twelve-play cycle chronicling the lives of three families in Rhinebeck, New York. The production reunites original Apple family performers Sally Murphy as Jane, Maryann Plunkett as Barbara, Laila Robins as Marian, and Jay O. Sanders as Richard.
The production continues Nelson's long-running exploration of American family life, civic discourse, and contemporary history through real-time theatrical storytelling.
