NYC Children's Theater presents a new musical about a young boy who befriends a bird on the eve of his town's annual pigeon shoot.

Based on the Newberry Honor-winning book by Jerry Spinelli, 'Wringer' tells the heartfelt and humorous story of Palmer, a 10-year-old boy who’s about to take part in his town’s annual pigeon shoot. When he secretly befriends a pigeon, Palmer finally finds the strength to stand up to peer pressure and speak out against the town’s violent tradition. Best for ages 8 and up.

'Wringer,' the musical adaptation by New York City Children’s Theater, is fun from beginning to end... The production offers a clever script, catchy tunes and fine performances. But...you may feel that it’s gotten the Disney treatment. A peppy and polished show. But I couldn’t help being disappointed that they dispensed with the novel’s bittersweet ending."
