From the show:
For the delight of audiences aged 5 to 105, Czechoslovak-American Marionette Theatre performs “A Christmas Carol, Oy! Hanukkah, Merry Kwanzaa.” Adapted, directed and reinvented by Vit Horejs, this toy-puppet theater extravaganza is a new take on Charles Dickens’ classic with Old World accents, New World inclusiveness and holiday songs. Into the familiar story are woven a surprising and delightful blend of English, Jewish, African, American and Czech winter rituals and customs, all performed by over three dozen marionettes ranging in size from four to twenty-four inches as well as found objects and toys.
See it if If you like shows with marionettes. A straight forward Christmas story with some funny turns.a pretty good company with some flaws.
Don't see it if High pitched singing can get annoying. This show gets slow at times and silly as well. It also delves away from main points at times.
See it if A kid friendly version, including a scene to light the menorah and kwanzaa candles appeals to you.
Don't see it if You dont like kids, marionettes, or want an accurate, serious version of a Christmas Carol.
See it if This is a fairly straightforward Christmas Carol, story-wise. Delightful puppets as usual with this theater company.
Don't see it if Vít Hořejš is an excellent puppeteer but he sounded rather monotonous speaking for all the characters, at least for my taste.
See it if You are interested in Czechoslovakian marionette traditions or learning about that sounds interesting to you.
Don't see it if You're easily bored or pitchy singing really grates your ears.
