Artistic, Long, Deep, Serious, Intense

See it if Powerful bio. Unable to cope with fame and PTSD, Salinger goes into reclusion with his fictional characters. Large well-directed cast.

Don't see it if You don't like bios. You want a happy experience. Weighty 1 hr 40 mins in a basement theater w/no intermission. Read more

Intense, Riveting, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if you enjoy Salinger, great theater or both. The production keeps most of the performers on stage & in character throughout. Effective!

Don't see it if you expect this biographical piece to be a realistic drama. It is chronological but jumps through time with two men playing Salinger.

Clever, uneven script, Uneven, but game cast, Long, slow, Intelligent, Ambitious

See it if Curious about Salinger and how he got that way.

Don't see it if You're not up for a lengthy near 2-hour bio much in need of trimming. Well imagined and staged in Theatre For a New City's tight space.

Some really good acting, Informative about jd's life influences, Interesting, Intelligent

See it if NYPLibrary/ 5th Av has a Salinger exhibit. I went before the show. Attending heightened my understanding of JDS & the show. Try to see it.

Don't see it if You are uninterested in Salinger. You like a straight line, story show. You do not believe fine theater happens in small, rough spaces.

Great directing!, Great writing, Great staging, Clever, Great acting

See it if U are fascinated in lifting the veil of mystery from one of America’s most influential writers & super private celebrity. Erudite research.

Don't see it if U r not fan of literary figures & prefer light entertainment. U like straight & narrow linear storytelling without time & dual role switches Read more

Thought-provoking, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want to see a tight, well acted, well directed play about one of the 20th Century's greatest American writers.

Don't see it if You don't like JD Salinger or have no interest in leaning about the man behind the works of A Catcher In The Rye or Franny & Zooey.
