From the show:
A darkly comedic multimedia romp, Abdication! spins a tale of relatable characters grappling with two choices: 1. fight for their independence of thought and feeling, or 2. abdicate their responsibilities and succumb to a life that’s easier in the short run.
A tongue-in-cheek view of technocratic society, it depicts the near future not only with dystopian gloom but with a heavy dose of humor, shining a light on our shared human experience while faced with this critical question. What would you give up?
See it if You’re a fan of The Twilight Zone or Black Mirror. 3 short one acts, each a little “out there”. Strung together by a space age Rod Serling.
Don't see it if You don’t like sci-fi, or have to have all the answers, these may leave you with more questions. Or if you can’t handle low budget sets.
See it if 3 provocative, imaginative, dark sci-fi skits played with humor & verve. Lively, sharp satirical musical intro before each skit. Loved it!
Don't see it if You are looking for a fancier production. You don't like short vignettes.
See it if you are up for an offbeat show with some light music and dancing, three scenes supplemented with television clips, well performed by a cast.

See it if you like short plays. These are three totally different plays that don’t have anything to do with one another
Don't see it if You are someone who values their time. This is the fourth show I have seen at this festival and all four of them have started extremely late
See it if you like short plays with an organized sci-fi theme. Like a deeper themes and fast moving dialogue. Like ideas more than characters
Don't see it if You don't like lean staging and want a longer exploration of characters. Prefer full length plays.
See it if It's 3 unrelated vignettes. It's more funny than serious, but the middle piece in particular will make you think.
Don't see it if There's a lot of multimedia that really adds to the experience, but if you're opposed to watching tv at the theater, you might object.
See it if Its heart was in the right place with its anti-racist sentiments, if that's what it was about. Well, some of it, anyway.
Don't see it if Felt like it was written by committee, with a claque of their friends yucking it up to show the rest of us where it was supposed to be funny
See it if You like plays with subjects that are though provoking and out of the ordinary.
Don't see it if You rather see a show with an easy to follow plot and if you don't like watching three short plays combined into one performance.
See it if you would enjoy "Black Mirror" if it was a lot sillier or had a singing narrator.
Don't see it if you would enjoy "Black Mirror" LESS if it was a lot sillier or had a singing narrator.
See it if you're looking for a light-hearted night of theatre that also makes you think.
Don't see it if you're looking for a full-length epic.
See it if You like fairy-tale-like structure, cabarets, thought-provoking works, technology/government and the relation of self.
Don't see it if If you looking for a single full-length show, something clean and pretty. It's funny, but there is truth.
See it if You're into technology, sci-fi, cabarets, cartoons, charged subject matter, thought-provoking theatre.
Don't see it if You need a standard play structure. This musical non-musical challenges several aspects of the traditional theatre-going experience.
See it if You want to see a fun and quirky show you have a drink and can take your friends to.
Don't see it if You don't like multimedia. This show has non-traditional elements like filmed footage and animation, which is not for everyone.

Don't see it if you are looking traditional theater.
See it if You’re looking for something smart and fresh. This show will make you laugh and think.
Don't see it if You’re not open-minded about the theater and want to see a production that tells one story from start to finish.
