Urban Stages presents the world premiere of a historical drama about Oscar Wilde that explores the hidden souls of men who love in extraordinary ways.
In the shadow of the 1900 World's Fair in Paris, two households are inexorably altered in the wake of the wrongful conviction and imprisonment of Alfred Dreyfus. Carlos Blacker manages both his marriage to a social-climbing wife and his close personal friendship with the disgraced genius, Oscar Wilde. Oscar lives under an assumed name in a ramshackle hotel, and his attempts to enlist the help of Blacker throws both their lives into chaos. The friendship is pushed to the breaking point when the persecuted Wilde decides to traffic in innuendo about Dreyfus.
