From the show:
A paranoid playwright, a broken acrobat, a porn star, a neurotic farmer, and a plumber, who may be a hitman, meet in a secluded Missouri farmhouse. Together they face one of life’s most pressing questions: should they laugh or should they die?
See it if you like stage thrillers with a comic bent & don’t mind scripts that sound like screenplays.
Don't see it if you like theater to do what only theater can do, not try to approximate what the screen does better,
See it if you like a lot of action and a lot of dialogue - you have to keep up with this crazy cast of characters each trying to outwit the other.
Don't see it if you want a full stage production-this is community theater w/some blemishes that has more potential if you like edgy character interactions.
See it if for the unconventional characters trying to resolve life issues in unconventional ways.
Don't see it if logic and emotional truth are core values in your theater going. More amusement than reality based.
See it if You like plays in small festivals. I won’t see every play at this festival but I’m thinking this will be the best one
Don't see it if You don’t like suspending disbelief. There are a lot of holes and Many times you will find yourself saying “wait, why did that just happen?”
See it if You want to see a play that you will want to follow so you can keep up. You don't have to think a lot, just follow the performers.
Don't see it if You need to see a serious dramatic performance and do not want to laugh. You don't like small productions and don't like actors w/accents.
See it if You like festival plays. This was Community Theatre 🎭 @ it’s best. The entire venue is. It was a far-fetched concept where 5 characters,
Don't see it if Some in the entertainment industry, some not, all with different accents, are on a farm, in Missouri. It was bizarre, but,,.. it worked.
See it if Funny evening with a quirky plot. Good acting and staging. Lots of laughs 😊
Don't see it if If you don’t like comedies and plot builders, this is not your play.
See it if expect at least one show from the Dream Up 2019 to be good.Poor actors did try their best with the script created by not so talented writer
Don't see it if Wasted your time with others shows from the Dream Up festival. Whoever choose this year participants did not do the good job.
Also Talented actors, they were trying to save the day, but....
See it if you want to watch how greed, sex + human nature plot for selfish goals. Self-deception reigns and everyone works hard to conquer self doubt.
Don't see it if you don't mind having the heat on stage creep into the heat in the room; seems there's no air-conditioning. Too warm for a summer play.
See it if It's the sort of story that really only works in theater - 5 characters who're caricatures but feel fully realized, at a significant moment.
Don't see it if There's some violence in it and some cursing, but really there's no reason to not go and enjoy. It's very good.
See it if you like tightly written plays with well developed characters. The acting is quite good, and the production comes off with precision.
Don't see it if You object to cursing and some sex talk. Nothing too offensive here, but it's the way some of these people talk.
See it if you like to see new plays in OOB festivals. Good chance to see new works as they evolve. Very good actors but script is a little contrived
Don't see it if you need a very polished, play full of original ideas. Characters and story are a bit predictable, but it's meant to be fun!
See it if Terrific actors triumph over an incoherent script. Writer's opportunity to have a good cast and an audience.
Don't see it if Who chooses the plays for these festivals?
See it if You like a well acted, play with interesting characters, and minimal staging.
Don't see it if You are looking for a big Broadway production.
See it if you enjoy witty writing and good acting that makes ridiculous characters likable. If you want 90 minutes of humor and support a small venue.
Don't see it if you don’t enjoy a show with different story lines that connect in a strange way at the end. If you don’t like exaggerated stereotypes.
