"These characters don’t seem fully realized or differentiated, despite some fine acting...More problematically, I’m still not sure about the story she wants to tell, however nonlinearly, or the emotions she wants to evoke, which get lost amid the verbal hubbub. But her style is so vivid that the next time Ms. Stess puts together a party — or a meeting or whatever it is — I’ll want to be on the guest list."
