About the show

This new musical offers a look at climate justice and what the generation that will have to endure its most dire effects is doing to ignite immediate action. More…

HOOKED ON HAPPINESS spotlights a high-school drama class that decides to create their own original musical about climate change, instead of selecting from the musical and play their drama teacher has suggested. Many of their parents are very conservative, and the often frank, passionate content of their lyrics outrages many members of the audience.

Don't see it if This is not a memorable show experience and nor a show you will remember. Really bad.

See it if You don’t mind a real plot and a middle school production, then this is your school.

Hooked to happiness after seeing this!, Inspirational message, Tuneful music & good musicianship, Resonant, Delightful

See it if U are open minded & open hearted to global warming & to young new talent. U like delightful original music, cute songs, & be entertainEd.

Don't see it if U expect a Hal Prince production. This is still green young cast & tiny budget project but sincere & has a great message we all need to hear

Also This is a refreshing delightful musical that I will not review by clas... Read more Read less

Poor everything, Confusing, Slow, Banal, Disappointing

See it if There is some talent to see - some - and the musicians did well but I can’t recommend that you give it your time.

Don't see it if Don’t see it. Unless there is someone in the show you should support.

Banal, Disappointing, Excruciating, Relevant, Quirky

See it if You want to see a badly plotted show, with actors who try to carry it, with their choreography and singing. Very cheeky and topical.

Don't see it if You want a show that draws you in and holds your attention for the story.

Also A musical about high school students performing a musical about global... Read more Read less

Simplistic and sweet-natured!, New theatre that speaks to our global climate adaptation crisis, A valiant effort!

See it if You want to know more about how high schoolers see climate change. The Greta Thunberg approach is simple, misguided but gets an A for effort

Don't see it if You think climate change is a hoax, believe there is such a thing as clean coal and these silly kids today are just spoiled & unappreciative

Also The creative force driving this musical was to speak directly to the a... Read more Read less

Some good acting & singing, Disappointing

See it if a sweet, earnest but thin on content and easily forgettable show sounds like a good way to spend your time.

Don't see it if I would recommend passing on this one.

Also The (mostly young) actors/singers tried very hard and some were partic... Read more Read less

Funny, Delightful, Clever

See it if you would like “High School Musical” with a social consciousness. A cast of young people provide Millenials’ view on climate change.

Don't see it if bothered by an informal setting with a low-budget cheesy school play with young people taking a positive tone on discussing the environment.

See it if You like polar bears...

Don't see it if You don’t like your polar bears to tap. But common! Everyone loves a tapping polar bear.

"Although the show is 80 minutes without an intermission, it just breezes right by and one is never bored. … From ballads to disco tune, from rap to group numbers, the music is spot on. Sound designer Alex Santullo delivers a pitch-perfect musical."
