Atlantic Theater presents this world premiere about an actress daughter and her father, a famous playwright. More…
Ella is a precocious and fiercely competitive actress whose sole aim in life is making her famous playwright father David proud. Over the course of a boozy, drug-fueled evening, Ella and David deliberate over whether to read the reviews of her off-Broadway debut… and things unravel from there. This new play pulls the audience into the middle of a deeply complicated relationship and sheds new light on the eternal struggles of parents and children to find common ground.
See it if You are patient enough to slog through an enormous pile of crap for a few small nuggets of profundity about theatre.
Don't see it if You want to see a good play or have a good time.
See it if Reed Birney is in a reprisal - because he made his character so alive and so vile You enjoy over the top melodrama
Don't see it if You are tired of plays about the angst of celebrated people You do not want to reopen memories of your own family trauma
