Beautiful, Linguistically accessible, Creative blend of artistic styles, Magical realism, Enchanting

See it if you enjoy theater relying on movement and beautiful design elements to tell the story more than acting and dialogue

Don't see it if you need everything to be literal to enjoy a show. I am not a Spanish speaker;I missed some moments but felt I understood enough to enjoy it Read more

Slow, Absorbing, Great acting, Great staging, Entertaining

See it if you'd enjoy a cultural play w/a family of women who have experienced loss, rape, and relationship difficulties. Choreography & costumes ++.

Don't see it if you want a fast-paced production or are not interested in mystic symbolism.

Intense, Entertaining, Absorbing, Thought-provoking

See it if Using myths, and it is a deep dark drama about dark subjects

Don't see it if Some of the subject are heavy, suicide, depression, rape, racist. Not a light show.

“In  Christine Stoddard’s ’Mi Abuela, Queen of Nightmares’ so much seems left out of the writing and direction, a furrowed brow is the exit result. Unexplained Spanish is a handicap. At least half a dozen times, others in the audience laughed or otherwise reacted while I was at sea.”

“I enjoyed the dream-like pacing of the play as I was transported to ancient and almost Shamanic realms at moments when reality proved too fraught and too much. I left the show feeling both challenged, changed, and inspired- a sometimes rare feat to accomplish these days...If you have 75 minutes to spare, I highly recommend checking out this engaging one-act play. ”
