A lo-fi space pop folk opera blending shadow puppetry, music, and sci-fi storytelling.
The story follows Ella, an earthling grappling with grief and the permanence of loss after her love, Mia, disappears. Swept into an enchanted dimension shaped by magic, space travel, and music, Ella joins a group of otherworldly companions on a journey through surreal landscapes in search of lost loved ones, liberation, and healing. The narrative unfolds as a lo-fi space pop, hip hop, and folk opera that merges myth, futurism, and emotional reckoning.
The production is created by Midnight Radio Show, a multidisciplinary sci-fi fairytale theatre collective based in Brooklyn. The company is led by creative director Charlotte Lily Gaspard, working alongside a rotating ensemble of musicians, actors, puppeteers, and visual artists. The staging builds on the company’s signature aesthetic, combining live performance with shadow, silhouette, song, and puppetry that moves fluidly between paper-cut worlds of light and darkness.
