About the Show

A world premiere from Feminist-Indigenous theater ensemble, Spiderwoman Theater.

Developed through an ensemble practice rooted in Indigenous oral tradition, Misdemeanor Dream weaves personal and community stories, and incorporates the original languages from the nations of the artists. The multi-generational performing ensemble includes members drawn from Indigenous communities across the globe. The production’s process-derived narrative reestablishes the severed connections between Turtle Island then and now.

Don't see it if Need a fully baked product. Are impatient and not interested in a wide variety of performance talent.

"Attending a theatrical production whose cast members are of different ages and genders and are from Indigenous nations across the United States, Canada and the Philippines is, unfortunately, a novelty in a predominantly white art form. However, the story weaving in this production leaves too many loosely tied or unconnected threads, and the heart of the show — accounts of communal traditions and personal experiences — ends up getting lost. This isn’t helped when the performance elements don’t readily cohere around a narrative structure."
