A peace treaty is signed and the war between the Prince, Pedro, and his brother Don John is over. A well-deserved sojourn on the estate of Don Leonato brings with it friendship, love, conspiracy, and betrayal. 'Much Ado About Nothing' is a comedy about courtships: a hasty one that nearly goes wrong and a hesitant one that leads to success. The delightful Beatrice and Benedick are reluctant while Hero, Beatrice's cousin, and Claudio, Bendick's comrade in arms, are overeager. See it if you love Shakespeare. Some actors stand out (GK Wells is superb as always), some mangle the verse. Script is well cut, stage is well used.
Don't see it if you only enjoy polished productions. HW rises above the amateur, but some casting is unfortunate. Still, watching WS outdoors is delightful.
