Devastating!, Resonant, Intense, Great writing, Great acting

See it if the show depicts the true story of a set of Polish classmates and how their role in [1939-1944] history shapes their actions/lives

Don't see it if you can't face the truth of history - you are looking for something light/a musical

Exceptional theater, Powerful & devastating, Must see!

See it if you like hard-hitting exciting theater, that uses inventive directing to enhance the story of Polish classmates from the 1920s to the 2000s.

Don't see it if you avoid shows depicting hard physical and sexual violence, or just looking for lighter fare. For everyone else this is mandatory viewing. Read more

Intense, Must see, Intelligent, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want a deep dive into Poland prior to soviet rule, nazi rule and the post national Era. It is intense and 3 hours but it flies.

Don't see it if You want a light show or want exciting staging. It is creative but bare.

Resonant, Indulgent, Absorbing, Great acting, Great staging

See it if you enjoy innovative stagings with strong acting of contemporary translated plays. Are internet in plays about the Holocaust/Jewish theater.

Don't see it if you don’t like plays about the Holocaust, plays with strong sexual violence, plays that aren’t realistically staged, or only like musicals.

Ambitious, Great acting, Slow, Intense, Devastating

See it if you want a play that will make you feel horror and reflect on what we have (not) learned since the Holocaust.

Don't see it if you cannot bear a three hour play based on the 1941 Jedwabne pogrom (before, during, and after) that requires patient watching. Read more

Gut wrenching, Intense, Slow, Great acting, Great staging

See it if You know what you're in for: a harrowing tale of life & death for ten Polish classmates living under Soviet and Nazi regimes.

Don't see it if You want something light. This show is a 3-hour dive into humanity's unmitigated darkness (individual & as a society) and does not let up. Read more

"4/5 Stars. "An epic history-based drama about the familiarity of evil...A virtuosic international ensemble keeps this harrowing material from becoming too much, demanding that audiences lean in, not tune out...There are some curious directorial choices...But these missteps don't diminish the work's depressing timeliness. Decades after the massacre depicted in 'Our Class,' we still have too much to learn."

“ 'Our Class' begins on a humorous, casual, Our Town note, but don't be fooled; horror awaits around every corner...Tadeusz Slobodzianek's drama is a Hobbesian account of moral breakdown, exposing the madness that lurks behind the facade of a shattered society. It asks a disturbing relevant question: If your world fell apart, how would you act?”

Tadeusz Slobodzianek’s "Our Class" is epic in its storytelling and shocking in its specifics. At three hours, the play is never long or boring as every line of dialogue offers new details to be digested as ten lives are laid out for us. While rather busy, Igor Golyak’s production is always illuminating, always compelling.
