English theater and vibrant Indian dance drama, exploring the inner life of Egypt's ruler.
Inspired by witnessing a traditional Indian play, Shulman conceived 'Pharaoh' as a dialogue-rich production blending English theater with vibrant Indian dance, aiming to explore the inner complexities of Egypt's ruler. Originally envisioned as a solo performance, it evolved into a collaborative piece with Kalamandalam John, featuring elaborate costumes, expressive movements, and a diverse musical accompaniment. Despite setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the project reflects Shulman's fascination with cultural intersections and theatrical storytelling.
