An experimental dance psychodrama where mind and body clash at the edge of memory.
Scarecrow is a psycho-physical theatre work inspired by the artist’s immigrant grandmother, who, while in hospice with dementia, experienced isolation and abuse at the hands of her caretaker. The piece confronts the uneasy gap between thought and action, placing mind and body in direct opposition. When language and physical behavior tell conflicting stories, the space between them becomes a site of difficult, unspoken truth.
Loosely based on Marina Carr’s Woman and Scarecrow, the work reimagines a woman on her deathbed who, under the haze of morphine, conjures the figure of a Scarecrow. This presence anchors a series of fragmented, dreamlike vignettes that treat the mind and body as estranged, even hostile forces. The result is an experimental dance theater that unfolds as a quiet but unsettling psychodrama.
