See it if You’d like three short plays…each better than the one before but all good. A study in personal values and perspective. A little funny & sad.
Don't see it if You expect a lot of action or a lot of clear answers. All three of these shorts leave you to interpret much of what you see. Sparse sets.
See it if Solid staging, some very good acting. This is really three short plays, not two - all are decent but Hot Fudge was a clear winner for me
Don't see it if Not much action happens in the first and last play so don't go if that's what you expect Read more
See it if Moving experiences as I watched these multiple plays.
Don't see it if If you prefer a musical then skip this one.
See it if PTP/NYC annual summer drama fest is a keeper w/a triple one act evening: Berkoff & Churchill (2) Dark themes collide w/crackling dialogue
Don't see it if Berkoff's 'Lunch' is well acted but enigmatic Churchill's 'Hot Fudge' is a slice of sleaze while 'Here We Go' closes with a stomach punch
See it if you like stimulating short plays that demand your patience (two by the brilliant Churchill) dealing with various aspects of human behavior.
Don't see it if you expect a big production,or lighter fare. This is hard core bare theater, production is effective, but the direction and acting are uneven.
See it if We loved the middle “Grift” play. It was entertaining, suprising, funny, and had a good ending. Good acting for all 3 plays.
Don't see it if “Sex” used rapid gibberish talk and was like a contemporary dance about a failed connection. “Death” was somber, long, philosophical & dull.
See it if 3 plays all pretty good... 1st one is the best.
Don't see it if 2end and 3erd can be slow at times.
See it if good acting and directing for all 3 plays; "Lunch" is interesting with two very good actors showing their vulnerabilities & loneliness
Don't see it if don't appreciate sparse sets/projections; 2nd play busy & interesting w/unlikable characters; 3rd play about death is sadly too drawn out.
"The text could be enlivened, even challenged, with more forceful direction. A night of sensual play, manipulation, machinations and tragedy courtesy of two fiery playwrights like Berkoff and Churchill should never leave a room as cool as it does here."

For its 35th anniversary, PTP/NYC (Potomac Theater Project) continues is exploration of little known British plays by major playwrights with the New York premieres of one acts by Steven Berkoff and Caryl Churchill. The triple bill entitled Sex, Grift and Death includes the first local productions of Berkoff’s Lunch and Churchill’s Here We Go, as well as the first NYC revival of Churchill’s Hot Fudge, last seen here at The Public Theater in 1990. While the productions directed by Richard Romagnoli (Berkoff) and Cheryl Faraone (Churchill) are fine as far as they go, they all seem a little too under heated to be truly theatrical for these in-yer-face, confrontational authors. The evening’s title sums up the themes of this triple bill.

"Sex, aging, work, illness, death. In this evening of shorts, Berkoff and Churchill lay bare the quintessential parts of life and remind us of just how messy, confusing, difficult, and awe-inducing these fundamental inevitabilities are. "
