In a surveilled future, dreams become dangerous acts of memory and resistance.
In a society rebuilt under constant surveillance and controlled by advanced brain-computer technologies, memory itself has been erased, leaving dreams as the final connection to a forgotten past. Within this “Restarted” world, dreaming becomes a risky and valuable act—one that threatens the system’s grip on truth and identity. As individuals struggle to survive under watchful authority, dreams transform into a form of resistance, preserving emotion, history, and humanity.
Created by Arte Makar Productions and directed by Armenian artist Arthur Makaryan, The Censorship of Dreams blends theater, technology, and political exploration into a visually immersive performance. Drawing on international collaboration and interdisciplinary storytelling, the production examines themes of control, memory, love, and personal freedom. Spanning cultures and artistic forms, this timely work invites audiences to question how language, relationships, and even the human body evolve in a world where privacy no longer exists.
