About the Show

The Brick and Gemini CollisionWorks present the world premiere of a a dystopian tale with all the dialogue sourced from social media.

An agrarian, post-digital settlement of middle-aged women and teenage boys fixate on the fruits of their garden and unexpected encounters with wildlife as catastrophes both natural and manmade lay waste to the surrounding communities.The script is entirely composed of social media posts and comments re-contextualized into a meditation on calamity and grief, as poetic as it is funny and weird.

"All the text in the play is pulled from actual written comments and updates posted on Facebook...There’s something that keeps us from feeling particularly close to or engaged with the characters. Partially, I suspect, the comments used aren’t quite junky enough...What feels like a strong initial idea to use social media text in order to render a world in which that media no longer exists never quite pays itself all the way off."
