Randomly Specific Theatre presents this comedy of Mamet proportions about a community theater's first taste of non-traditional casting. More…
The Glen Ridge Community Theater is struggling to pick their spring production. With a membership that consists of only ladies, their choices are very limited. But when a young and hungry Director pitches them a non-traditional casting idea, this little community finds themselves playing with the big boys.
See it if you're ok w broad stereotypes used for laughs. Underlying issue is impt: few meaty roles for women. By "Koalas Are Dicks" Larry Phillips.
Don't see it if you have high stds for acting/prodn design. Not much grander than NJ community theater it portrays...but very entertaining. Gr twisty ending
See it if You’re in the mood for a silly show that’s a lot like a sitcom...doesn’t take itself too seriously or get bogged down with too much detail.
Don't see it if You want Masterpiece Theatre. This is just a silly story, done well enough to keep your attention and make you laugh and have a good time.
See it if Hilarious send-up of self-absorbed suburban theater women. Backbiting one minute; hugging & crying the next. Delicious caricatures.
Don't see it if You don’t enjoy small off-off-B satires. I was only a little familiar with Mamet, but still got the digs at him (loved the ellipsis thing).
See it if you enjoy laughing while watching a talented cast bring a varied set of women to life in a theatrical story that plays off Mamet very well.
Don't see it if a small budget, comedy staging keeps you from enjoying good theater.
See it if you know the backstage as well as the front. This play about a community theater is an amusing send up of the production process. It's fun!

See it if Like a satiric look at community theatre with a relevant theme of needing more women onstage and behind scenes.
Don't see it if Don't like bare bones production, characters/actors who are drawn so broadly they obscure any poignancy in the humor.
See it if You like community theater and enjoy silly plays that don’t take themselves to seriously. A nice diversion. Good acting.
Don't see it if You want humor that isn’t cliche. All the humor is stereotypical and banal in my opinion. Not unenjoyable but nothing super meaty.
See it if You need a really good laugh! Small scale production but a real hoot for those knowledgeable about theatre and even those who aren’t
Don't see it if You’re looking for serious drama or big scale production
See it if you like comedy that doesn’t take anything too seriously. Funny the way High School Musical's funny—cute, good natured. Many NY actor jokes.

See it if WOW! Phillips and the ensemble cast capture the (exaggerated) ladies of Tom Cruise's hometown of Glen Ridge, NJ perfectly
Don't see it if you want drama, Phillips usual "black" comedy, or a musical. If a slight writing slip at the end will ruin a play for you
Also Phillips work capturing suburbia continues to be amazing. Here it is b... Read more Read less
