This Restoration comedy from George Farquhar offers a rollercoaster of love, schemes, and inheritances. More…
The British have just won the great Battle of Blenheim and now they are back in the countryside to replenish their forces. The military officers enlist all of the able-bodied people they can find with hilarious hijinks and trickery, but in the midst of the recruiting, the gentlemen find themselves in love.
"Entertaining, replete with great staging, acting, and singing...The entire cast is well-versed and talented in their multiple roles...The cast also provides an a cappella soundtrack to one sword fight, and it is amazing to witness...The interaction was a clever way to set the tone of this play as it went on. Although the stage is small, the direction of the play makes sure none of it is wasted...Any fan of Farquhar’s work would do well to see this show." Full Review
See it if you enjoy old plays done well. This was amateurish in all respects, the acting, sets, and costumes. I couldn't wait for it to be over.
Don't see it if Just don't see it. I usually love these restoration plays but this was awful.
