See it if If you want a play with twists and turns. Entertaining and enjoyable. A show that has good pace.

Don't see it if If you want as musical or a bigger production. If you do not like a show with twists and turns.

Intense, Absorbing, Great writing, Entertaining, Clever

See it if you like small plays with a range of characters that keep you guessing as they interact. Well directed production by a talented cast.

Don't see it if you don't like a lot of dialogue or seeing characters react physically - some light moments in this Phillips play but it is not a comedy.

Quirky, Clever, Thought-provoking, Edgy, Ambitious

See it if a new show with old style traditional script excites you. The situation starts reverses moves to the next reversal supported by good cast

Don't see it if some uneven performances or some predictability bothers you.

Great acting, Great writing, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if You want to see a good play and do not want to sit for 2 hours or more.

Don't see it if Not funny, musical. More talking.

Swing and another homerun for larry phillips

See it if you like realistic plays about real people with no sugarcoating

Don't see it if You need to feel like you need to root for a hero and against a villain

Mediocre?, Living room melodrama?, All unlikable characters?, From a yesteryear of play plotting, Too familiar?

See it if want to follow Larry Phillips trajectory, content with box set, single issue, young smart set playwriting, 2 support independent theatre

Don't see it if need great production values & top of the form performances, want 2B surprised by plot developments & character revelations, need more

Also Found myself disliking the characters from the start, especially Todd,... Read more Read less

Sufficiently compelling, Wooden acting, Well written

See it if ..a drama concerning this year’s celebrated author & a visitor from her past is interesting. Not newest topic but smart editing & good pace.

Don't see it if Somehow the actors, while loud, don’t come alive which detracts from story. Less volume, more subtlety would help.

Refreshing, Masterful, Great writing, Great staging, Great acting

See it if you want to see Philips once again allow his characters to breathe in ways the most writers, even great writers, seldom achieve

Don't see it if you want to see characters similar to each and can't understand how people with disparate backgrounds can come together in the same place

Also I missed the first production of this show in 2016, but I am certainly... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Thought-provoking, Great writing, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if You want to see a play that moves at a nice pace. No lulls. There are twists and turns. The cast complimented each other.

Don't see it if You want to see a musical. You don't want to, but you will miss out on a great performance. You don't like small theaters.

Indulgent, Cliched, Talky, Wooden acting, Predictable

See it if you are interested in the world of the NYC literacci and the Gen X New Yorker lifestyle.

Don't see it if you saw many plays/films recently about plagiarism, college writers, Gen X entitlement, narcissistic investment bankers, can’t sit 80 min.

Also Some crying and anger expressions seemed authentic. Acting overall not... Read more Read less

See it if You like suspense & a fun plot with great acting. A wonderful evening in the theatre.

Don't see it if You don’t like a simple plot, it might not be your kind of play.

Mediocre acting, Thought-provoking, Intelligent, Absorbing

See it if you want to see a traditional short, interesting. one act play with a good script, including interesting characters & believable dialogue..

Don't see it if you don't like one act, straightforward, traditional plays. You prefer big productions.

Also At the Sunday night performance I attended, there were only 9 people i... Read more Read less

Twisty, Intelligent, Great acting, Absorbing, Entertaining

See it if a fellow fan of prolific Phillips—his work & acting always entertains & merits support. This unfolds briskly w/ lots of twists & melodrama.

Don't see it if averse to small, modest venue & staging or desiring a more nuanced plot. For a first preview, the actors acquitted themselves well.

Great writing, Absorbing, Great acting, Entertaining, Clever

See it if you enjoy an interesting mystery with some twists and turns. Good acting by the whole cast.

Don't see it if you want an extravaganza in a large venue

Also I found the show interesting, well-acted

Some twists, Realistic dialogue, ok pace, Disappointing

See it if I like a small drawing room drama with realistic characters. I loved the Ladies of Glen Ross by this playwright....

Don't see it if But- this was not as quirky, fun or twisty & only some of the characters were watchable. The writer,as Oliver, wasn’t believable+no chemistry

Mystery unfolds, Well-constructed & gripping plot

See it if you'd like to see 5 expert actors in tightly packed, tension-filled 75-min. drama, as main char "comes to terms" w/ her past.

Don't see it if you dislike straight plays, or aren't interested in talented young playwright Larry Phillips. I'll definitely see his work again

Also This was a fast-paced, gripping story that had the entire audience on ... Read more Read less

Thought-provoking, Great staging, Absorbing

See it if You want a cat and mouse play...I liked it but it could use some more work with plot structure. I recommend if you like a mystery.

Don't see it if You want big production values...Small set, 5 actors and 80 minutes..

Great dialogue

See it if You want to see a new play with a terrific ensemble and some great dialogue.

Don't see it if You want a longer play with huge production values.

Also Well written, well acted. A fun and intense 75 minutes in the Theatre.

Great writing, Good acting by all but larry, Fluffy

See it if Like Mr.Phillips's creation

Don't see it if Feel sorry for the good actors, who were supposed to fake emotions when participating in mediocre play

Also Absolutely dislike Larry's acting skills. Overacting, scary mimicking ... Read more Read less

Great writing

See it if Whenever you see a really well written play, everything falls in place, even when the acting is a touch uneven but still good.

Don't see it if This is a well constructed, quick play that doesn't overstay its welcome.

Thought provoking, Great acting, Gradually unwoven, A thriller with twists, A surprising treat

See it if So much tension between each pair of characters; sitting at my chair edge expecting for more; 75min well spent

Don't see it if You feel weird when the playwright is playing one character; the buildup takes a bit too long; small space with coded toilet; plain set

Also It’s simply too hard to admit one’s mediocrity, isn’t it?

Hilarious, Great writing, Clever

See it if you like a compelling story about flawed people in conflict. An interesting play that makes you ask questions and provides resolutions.

Don't see it if you want a lot of action or mind dialogue. Mind a few characters who are not likable and some of the likable characters being beat up a bit.

Also The play kind of at one points in discussing the leads good book notes... Read more Read less

Intense, Dated, Relevant

See it if you are enraptured with a story about plagiarism and don't mind miscasting

Don't see it if you feel the subject matter needs more than 75 minutes

Intense, Thought-provoking, Great acting, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if U like great writing and acting in a small venue that’s intense and is a mystery.

Don't see it if U prefer musicals, larger productions and bigger venues.

Entertaining, Smart, Riveting, Clever, Great writing

See it if You want to see a cleverly written, taut, suspenseful play set in the literary world.

Don't see it if You don’t enjoy small productions, with a chintzy set. Some flubbed lines. The story could use some tweaking.

Also Larry Phillips is clearly a talented playwright. In The Rise of Medioc... Read more Read less
