Great writing, Great staging, Entertaining, Ambitious, Intense

See it if You enjoy a show with subtitles which examines the metaphysical situation of mankind in mundane events

Don't see it if You are afraid: growing old, sex, and famous writers

"'Hanoch Levin Squared' is a magical back-to-back New Yiddish Rep presentation of two of Levin tragi-comic tours de force...Holbitter (miraculously portrayed by Yiddish Rep’s Artistic director David Mandelbaum) is the protagonist of 'The Whore from Ohio'...Brilliantly directed in both languages by Ronit Muszkatblit...The resulting performances were breathtaking."

"Levin had been five years old when the land he was born in became Israel...It's as if his characters came right out of the gritty Poland from which his parents had escaped...In Yiddish, Hoibitter, a ragged beggar, loudly, joyfully proclaims he is seventy years old today and he is going to treat himself to a birthday present. A whore...The play trundles from dismal to shitty and eventually to death."

"Avant-garde Off-Broadway theater at its finest...A true revelation...These three fine actors showcase Levin as an Israeli version of Pinter and Beckett at their best...Hankin's performance was rich in complexity and color...With her graceful movements and expressive face, deftly alternating between daughterly and demonic, one is reminded how much she has been missed on a NY stage."
