An absorbing story about brothels, women, and love, Yama was considered highly scandalous when first published in the early 20th century.

Today, it is hailed as one of the most detailed and candid accounts of sex workers. Celebrated director Aleksey Burago adapts and directs Kuprin's novel for the stage, with actors Michael Anne Hoffert-Cone, Luisa Menzen, Elena Mindlina, Tom Schubert, Lana Stimmler, Naira Zakaryan, and Di Zhu performing.

Quirky, Entertaining, Confusing, Great staging, Great singing

See it if you understand Russian, appreciate good singing, harmonizing, talented musicians & good background music. Great costumes 1 actor in 7 roles.

Don't see it if you want to grasp the entire work and don't understand Russian or are bothered by 6 actors talking, giggling and screaming at the same time.
