About the Show

Part of FringeNYC: Rizpah watches her sons rot, Tamar disguises herself as a prostitute, Bathsheba is an innocent victim. Each week contemporary women met and questioned the experiences of forgotten women in the Bible. It was scary to speak. The result was eye-opening.

FROM THE ARTIST:
This is not your boring, hokey, church drama that re-enacts stories from the Bible. It is a contemporary feminist reinterpretation of stories that show how Christian women's lives have been affected by mistaken teachings, skewed interpretations, or completely ignored stories. This play weaves true accounts of women's stories of abuse, bullying, incest, homosexuality, and other taboo topics in today's church with the stories of women from the Old and New Testament. It uses comedy, drama, dance, music, and drama therapy to voice the concerns of women who feel like even in today's 21st century, they don't have permission to speak.
