About the Show

Manhattan Shakespeare Project presents an original work that combines the Bard's 'Othello' with text written by female Muslim students in NYC high schools.

'Al’ukhraa: A Study in Othello' explores how our opinions of 'the other' affect our community as a whole, and how the current political climate of fear is directly impacting New York City high school students. Part of MSP's Shakespeare in the Parks season, and presented for free outdoors in Astoria Park, Queens (June 7-12), Summit Rock, Central Park (June 23, 24 and July 7-10), and Morningside Park, Manhattan (June 25, 26 and July 14-17).

See it if Want to support youthful and/or all-female work. Committed and creative cast plays multiple roles with skill. Nice audience interaction

Don't see it if Non-traditional staging and casting isn't your thing. If you worry about weather - the cast carried on during a brief rain shower!
