Charlayne Woodard stars in her solo show about a young woman's coming of age: her aunt.
Charlayne Woodard returns to MTC to perform her historical portrait of a young African American woman's coming of age, and her realization that some of life's most difficult times can also be the most fulfilling.
Woodard spins her own real-life remembrances of her disabled aunt, Neat. Over the course of this journey we encounter entrenched prejudice in the South, and racial violence in the North. Woodard juxtaposes this with her own coming of age teenage fashion, hairdos and pop music.
