Clever, Great acting, Refreshing, Relevant, Absorbing

See it if You like the concept behind New York Classical productions and want to see one of the best performances from a Romeo.

Don't see it if You don’t like getting up to watch a play as it moves from scene to scene.

Clever, Delightful, Great staging, Great acting, Unique and fun

See it if Not just Shakespeare in the Park because here the park is actually the set. There is no stage. Very engaging and enjoyable.

Don't see it if You want to sit comfortably and relax — audience was on blankets on the ground or standing. (Of course you could bring a chair.) Read more

Clever, Ambitious, Great acting

See it if You enjoy Shakespeare and don’t mind moving around. I found the many location changes distracting but the acting was superb!

Don't see it if You have trouble walking. You are averse to sitting on the ground.

Clever, Strong acting, Delightful, Strong directing, Beautiful setting

See it if you enjoy Shakesp and/or Central Park. The combination is enchanting. Polished, professional productn. Fun to rove. 6 actors play all parts.

Don't see it if you're a die-hard WS purist. Lines are cut to yield 100 minutes. There is no balcony. But verse is well-spoken/audience kids are cute. Free! Read more

Great staging, Quirky, What's fun is the process

See it if you enjoy Shakespeare outdoors and are content with the compromises that are made as a result.

Don't see it if you are a purist regarding the language. The company has fun with it, and the play is edited. Read more

Entertaining, Great writing, Quirky, Refreshing, Clever

See it if A warm summer's evening, al fresco staging (w/Miss Liberty in the background) & skillled professionals all conspire for a amiable production

Don't see it if Copious edits often jarring giving a "Cliff's notes" feel to tragedy Leads competent but Gould steals show as Tybalt/Nurse/Friar Lawrence

Energetic, Swift, Incomplete, Confusing, Personable

See it if you want a night out in a New York park with a troupe of personable performers that speak Elizabethan English very credibly.

Don't see it if baffling cuts in the parts of both title characters, cuts that rob them of their complexity, might anger you too much to enjoy the setting. Read more

“A smartly streamlined adaptation...featuring a dynamic cast of six...An immersive site-specific participatory production...The entire cast fluently delivers first the wit, then the drama...While maintaining a rapid-fire pace that keeps the audience enthralled and engaged...NY Classical Theatre’s production isn’t just free, it’s priceless – a thoroughly accessible, comprehensible, and inclusive opportunity to experience...Shakespeare in an excitingly transportive and personal way.”
