In 1977 Basingstoke, director Simon Monk believes his musical adaptation of the classic French play Phedre will revive his career in England. However, legendary French actress Jacqueline Bremont is determined to star in the production, despite her complete lack of singing and dancing abilities - skills the musical heavily requires. Simon has no intention of casting the diva, setting the stage for an uproarious conflict of massive egos.

As rehearsals spiral into chaos, romantic entanglements and language barriers further complicate the situation. Rampant diva behavior, bruised pride, and disastrous creative clashes threaten to derail the show entirely. It becomes a madcap quest for Simon to somehow survived this cavalcade of oversized personalities and pull off his make-or-break comeback musical amid the farcical pandemonium.
