"There are a few moments that don't fully ignite but not enough to dampen a red hot hit show that sweeps the audience along on a tidal wave of excitement, opulence and sheer fabulousness. It was long before the interval that the question in my head went from "yes, but is it theatre?" to "how many times can I come back and experience this thing before it closes?" It's a blast."
"What you’re likely to take away from this giddy, excessive and agreeably self-glorifying stage party is Gaultier’s wildly creative, knockout designs and his ebullient and liberating embrace of beauty and difference."
Part cabaret, part catwalk show, designer Jean Paul Gaultier’s stage autobiography is massively self-indulgent but also kind of fabulous...basically two hours of hot-bodied dancer-singer-exhibitionists posing and vogueing...'
Featuring every bell and whistle imaginable (and they're only the ones attached to Gaultier's costumes), this is a two-hour deep-dive into one of the most influential designers of the last 50 years.'
...slick, bouncy and extravagant production is an ideal summertime confection... Artfully balanced between frivolity and titillation, the show’s mix of cabaret and catwalk is a lot of fun if also a mite self-indulgent.'
