This production stages Bertolt Brecht’s anti-war play around Mother Courage, a trader who pulls her cart through a landscape devastated by prolonged conflict. As war consumes resources and destabilizes communities, she sustains herself and her children by doing business amid violence and deprivation. Each transaction meant to secure survival results in escalating personal loss, exposing the costs of profiteering and endurance within a wartime economy.

The production features a translation by Anna Jordan and is directed by Elle While, with Michelle Terry performing the central role of Mother Courage, supported by live music and an ensemble-driven staging that foregrounds the mechanics of war, capitalism, and complicity.
