Must see, Intelligent, Great staging, Great acting, Ambitious

See it if you like Shakespeare and want a reason to get into the history plays, as the cuts made give it far better flow

Don't see it if you don’t want to sit still for almost 2 hours at a time

Ambitious, Entertaining, Delightful

See it if You like Ian mckellan and want a funny modern Shakespeare play.

Don't see it if There is a ton of cigarette smoking. It's 4 hours long and there's a lot of fluff still in there. They inject a lot of sex, drugs and r Read more

Flabby, Bad, Slow, Overrated, Disappointing

See it if You're an Ian McKellen completist. You can afford to sit at the front of the stalls or your view is entirely blocked by a video screen.

Don't see it if You like well directed, adapted and lit performances. Don't go if you value your time, money or behind - over 4 hours of boredom.

Delightful, Entertaining

See it if Great role for Ian McKellon. Good supporting cast around him. Robert Icke is creative but doesn't overdo the directorial flourishes.

Don't see it if you find Shakespeare's history plays boring, even when well acted and directed. There's nothing revolutionary here. Read more

Long, Dull, Cliched, Ambitious, Entertaining

See it if Sir Ian's performance was, as always, uniformly excellent, as was Hotspur and several other cast members.

Don't see it if I have been spoiled by the excellence of productions by the NT, RSC and the Bridge etc. This seemed clunky & clumsy, like Ian's fat suit.

Indulgent, Funny, Disappointing

See it if You're a huge Shakespeare or McKellen fan, or simply have four hours to kill for some reason. Generally well acted, but overlong.

Don't see it if You're ultimately seeing two plays, with the first far better than the second. Part two could have been reduced down to a few key scenes.

Too fluffy, Slow

See it if Maybe if you are really into Shakespeare

Don't see it if You value your time. 4 hours that I would have much rather spent elsewhere. Only stayed because my friend bought me a ticket as a gift.
