A jester’s daughter is seduced by a Duke, setting a curse and revenge in motion.

At a palace gathering, the Duke of Mantua pursues multiple women, including a mysterious young woman he has seen in church. His jester, Rigoletto, mocks the outraged husbands and fathers, prompting Count Monterone to curse him. Rigoletto’s secret is soon exposed: the young woman is his daughter, Gilda, whom he has kept hidden away. When she is abducted and delivered to the Duke, Rigoletto hires an assassin to avenge her. The events that follow bring Monterone’s curse to its tragic fulfillment.
