About the Show

Previously unheard songs trace a young composer’s life and work in New York City.

The show follows a young composer living in New York City as he pursues his artistic ambitions while engaging with the social and political realities around him. Structured through songs drawn from archival material, the piece traces his creative development and personal convictions, revealing a portrait of an artist striving to make meaningful change through music.

The score is written by Jonathan Larson, whose work reshaped contemporary musical theatre, and includes previously unheard material preserved by his family. The show was conceived by Jennifer Ashley Tepper and is directed by John Simpkins, who also staged the original Off-Broadway production. Simpkins is known for his work on new musical development and for directing the initial run of this project in New York.
