Allegra follows a woman whose overwhelming joy frequently erupts into song and performance in everyday situations. Living in a small village, Allegra’s behaviour creates disruption for those around her, including her brother Ronen and her carer Anna, who struggle to balance her happiness with the practical realities of caring for her. The play combines comedy, music, and dance while exploring memory, ageing, and emotional resilience.

The production is written by Peter Quilter, whose previous work includes End of the Rainbow and Glorious!. The cast is led by Dame Maureen Lipman, known for The Pianist, Coronation Street, See How They Run, and stage productions including Educating Rita. The company also includes Bailey Patrick, John Middleton, and Elizabeth Bower.

The production runs at the Harold Pinter Theatre from 8 July to 8 August 2026. The theatre, originally opened in 1881 as the Royal Comedy Theatre, was renamed in honour of playwright Harold Pinter in 2011.
