Riveting, Masterful, Great staging, Great acting, Absorbing

See it if you want to be entertained. I don't normally like plays but I was riveted. An interesting energetic story. The set and puppets are amazing.

Don't see it if you are looking for something light.

Great staging, Intense, Moving, Masterful, Spellbinding

See it if Riveting survival story with extraordinary staging. Deep and moving. Great characters, including the animals. Wonderful ending.

Don't see it if The big twist won’t be as impactful if you already know the story (which I didn’t). Sit in the mezzanine to fully appreciate the staging.

“Webster’s stagecraft is dazzling, but don’t expect ’Life of Pi’ to make you believe in God. It will make you believe in puppet shows, and that may be enough.”

“Visually, the play is a deeply wondrous spectacle that teems with beauty and brutality. Narratively, the script does less to impress, as if written at times in magic marker, and supporting performances could use some shading.”

“For many in the audience, the immersive nature of the experience will be more than enough...Despite watching decades worth of attempts, I’ve never seen a show that better conveys the sea or so many of the creatures trying to ride its waves and avoid being swallowed.”
