Exquisite, Absorbing, Riveting, Thought-provoking, Great acting

See it if You want to see Jessica Lange in a powerful and funny performance. As well as Jim Parsons and Celia Keenan-Bolger giving fine support.

Don't see it if You are triggered by a truly horrible mother.

Thoughtful and engaging, Heartfelt and humorous, Strong acting trio, Well-written if sometimes poorly-paced, Moving

See it if Paula Vogel’s blend of human storytelling that is raw, funny, earnest, touching, and just misses being treacly is your type of play.

Don't see it if you need uplifting, are triggered by cockroaches, are homophobic, and/or are sensitive about age, illness, sexuality, decline, and death. Read more

Ambitious, Intense, Intelligent, Great staging, Great acting

See it if You enjoy a great ensemble cast who clearly love acting together although the plot is sort of a rehash of earlier plays and movies.

Don't see it if You are not interested in seeing Jessica Lange play a truly monster of a mother. It was great to see Lange who is a true star.

Great acting by all 3, Absorbing, Moving

See it if you're up for almost 2 hours of gritty, sometimes humorous, family drama. Paula Vogel has created a scenario that is believable & wrenching.

Don't see it if you have a problem with gay themes or cockroaches, especially dancing ones - both the roaches and the gay progeny. Read more

Absorbing, Intelligent, Great acting

See it if The acting is excellent, especially Jessica Lange. It’s a family story, dysfunctional but siblings loving and caring for each other.

Don't see it if You are not a fan of Jessica Lange - she is the reason to see it. This is about a family, gay kids, very unhappy mom.
