Slow, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if you want to take a guy to the theatre that doesn't really like theatre! It's a fun evening with a bunch of great songs and a solid story.

Don't see it if you are looking for a masterpiece of a show. It is definitely flawed but most everyone will still have a good time.

Disappointing, Great singing, Epic, Overrated

See it if You want a slightly sad story about a community refusing to modernize, but great cast including Sting

Don't see it if You need to be invested in the story; I couldn't help getting frustrated that this town would spend so many resources on an unwanted ship

Slow, Quirky, Intense, Great singing, Great acting

See it if you love male-heavy (all men) musicals, you love sting or shows about the working class, you want an interesting unique story, great music

Don't see it if you don't like slower paced, more serious musicals, you like a well-developed plot or prefer something happier/more dancey, shipyards bore you

Cliched, Banal, Poor script/weak lyrics, Great singing, Earnest

See it if you love Sting's music. Rousing songs well-sung. The book is a mess, tho, both the plot and dialogue. Choreog disappoints (all stomping)

Don't see it if you want a sophisticated musical. This needs more attn to the writing. The actors can't pull off the weak material. Still, not a disaster. Read more

Cliched, Slow, Predictable, Uninspired staging, Great singing

See it if You like relatively simple romantic triangle plots seasoned with a few very well sung sea shanties and a sprinkling of sting reprises.

Don't see it if You expect an original take on the standard romantic pull and tug between a woman and two men.

Cliched, Quirky, Indulgent, Great staging, Ambitious

See it if You love Sting's music - beautiful score but ultimately a bit of a mess. The book is pretty terrible. Cliched and predictable.

Don't see it if You're looking for an even, well told story. Suffered in a large Broadway house, would've been better as an intimate piece.

Cliched, Disappointing, Great staging, Overrated, Slow

See it if you like Sting and watching him avoid everyone in the cast during the dance sequences, shipyards and plot points from a mile away thrill you

Don't see it if you like shows that are memorable; the music was decent but nothing really stood out. And another show with a 100-1 man-woman ratio.
