Ambitious, Engaging, Well-acted, Entertaining, Absorbing

See it if to see a talented cast perform a strong musical adaptation of a classic novel. The songs are good, and the plot is engaging.

Don't see it if you don't want scenes of physical conflict. There are multiple fights and other acts of violence that could be a turn off for some.

Earnest adolescent angst

See it if You loved book, want to see fresh Bway talent. Great for younger viewers with classic tale of bullies, yearning, haves and have nots.

Don't see it if You seek nuance or wit. . Nothing new in story. Some pretty songs with excellent Dallas and Darrel vocals.

Disappointing, Great staging, Slow, Banal, Ambitious

See it if Taymor's muscular staging, a surprisingly effective score & an edgy cast keeps the focus aslant from this muddled adapt of the YA classic

Don't see it if The Rapp & Levine book keeps the classic socio-economic hook but allows the story line to seep from mawkish sentimentality into bathos

Cliched, Dated, Indulgent, Great staging, Entertaining

See it if Beautifully staged, lit, and choreographed. Score is pleasant, but doesn't move the story forward. The cast is fine, but one one standouts.

Don't see it if Although it's presented in a slick/hip manner the material itself is dated. That being said the young audience members seemed to like it.
