Slow, Intelligent, Great writing, Absorbing

See it if you truly love Chekhov you are a fan of the cast, particularly Steve Carell you don't mind contemporary language and feel

Don't see it if you want the definitive version of this play you are bothered by inventive casting you want to be inspired/deeply moved

Tough to watch, Overrated, Slow, Funny

See it if You want to see Steve Carrell or William Jackson Harper who were both cool to see.

Don't see it if It was just so slow, and felt disjointed. It seemed like Steve Carrell was in his own show, just disconnected from everyone else.

Thought-provoking, Slow, Great staging, Banal, Cliched

See it if you want to see a contemporary adaptation of a Chekov play.

Don't see it if you are looking for a resonant adaptation with strong acting.

Ambitious, Clever, Entertaining

See it if You want Chekhov updated. Also if you’re a Steve Carell fan.

Don't see it if You want a show where something happens. It’s all about relationships, unfulfilled lives and dashed dreams. Read more

Blandly staged, Disjointed overall, Great acting, Amusing, Intelligent

See it if you like inspired performances by gifted actors, enjoy contemporary interpretations of Chekhov, and identify with passionate people in pain

Don't see it if you can't sit center (sight line issues), want more set design (couldn't see upstage), and don't like guns (spoiler alert: it goes off)
