Entertaining, Cliched

See it if You’re a fan of Sara Bareilles’ music. If you enjoy the movie.

Don't see it if Looking for deep characters. With the exception of the leads, the supporting cast is one dimensional.

Banal, Disappointing, Cliched, Overrated, Fluffy

See it if You want to see clichéd characters and plot. One wonderful character actor role. Music sounds flat and boring and didn't resonate with me.

Don't see it if You want an exciting, fully dimensional show. Jesse Mueller has an amazing voice so that heals some of the wounds.

Delightful, Enchanting, Great singing

See it if Waitress relies to heavily on casting because the story is semi-charming but not engaging or even, at times, interesting.

Don't see it if Every cast member, not well developed, gets to sing a song or two. Like a recipe to any pie, this musical feels quite structure.

Great singing, Great acting, Hilarious, Resonant

See it if You love skillful leading female roles; hilarious supporting charaters; great musical composition: She Used To Be Mine is a new classic

Don't see it if The main antagonist is underdeveloped; some “married couple scenes” run with low energy

Great singing, Intelligent score, A bit cheesy, Enjoyable, Very cute

See it if you want to be positively surprised with a nontraditional and intelligent score and good vocals. Heart-warming story and lovable characters.

Don't see it if I always want more songs. Here especially the 2nd act needs more music and less talk.

Simple, Fluffy, Great acting, Overrated, Great singing

See it if you want to see a strong musical cast, an accessible show, & non-traditional Broadway music.

Don't see it if you hate it when accents get in the way of understanding the lyrics, you dislike minimalist dancing, & want to avoid simple storytelling.

Great writing, Must see, Christopher fitzgerald wins the lol award!, Entertaining, Adult-oriented story with simulated sex!

See it if I saw the orig cast in 2016 & they were fantastic & I felt irreplaceable. Went back after 1400 perfs & the show is replacement-proof in 2019

Don't see it if Give songwriter Sara Bareilles the credit, her songs inspire the singers to sing their best. GO!! Jan 05, 2020 is closing date, get PIE'D!!

Also Closing cast has been rejoined by Christopher Fitzgerald (as 'Ogie') a... Read more Read less

Entertaining, Funny, Fluffy, Romantic, Great singing

See it if You like catchy music and nice performances. Great cast, great singing, but only a good show. I left the theater liking it, not loving it.

Don't see it if You object to marital infidelity. The show is good, just not great. Lacks something that you can never quite place what it is.

See it if you enjoy a frothy musical about the longing to escape one's current life situation. A screen-to-stage drama that sings with warmth + grit.

Don't see it if you can't stand a lot of pies and a bunch of talented women signing and talking about female issues. Go see it anyway. Pies smell so good!

See it if You liked the movie, and don't need or want the show to be a carbon copy. Definitely see if you are a fan of Jessie Mueller.

Hilarious, Romantic, Feminist, Great singing, Entertaining

See it if you enjoy Sarah Barielle's music and want to see an extraordinary performance from Jesse Mueller.

Don't see it if you're not into girl power.

Disappointing, Entertaining, Funny, Original, Great singing

See it if You loved the movie. Also, it has three great female leads. The score is entertaining and well sung, especially Jesse M's big number.

Don't see it if You don't like gimmicky directing and are looking for intelligent humor. It could have been better.

See it if You love Bareilles' music and want to have a cute and fun entertaining night out while still having some great messages thrown in.

Don't see it if You don’t like musicals or human love stories.

Entertaining, Great singing, Funny, Quirky

See it if you want to laugh, listen to sara bareillis' great voice, & eat pie :)

Don't see it if you're a stick in the mud & can't find fun in anything.

Also just see it, it's cute ;)

Funny, Great acting, Great singing, Overrated

Don't see it if you're expecting it to live up to the hype.

Clever, Great singing, Funny, Delightful, Quirky

See it if You want to see a show with a great score and a lot of heart. I had a fantastic evening, smiling ear to ear! Not for young kids, but great!

Don't see it if You are looking for anything innovative in the theatre. They stick to the typical format of story telling but, I think, it's so charming!

"Fresh and delicious, 'Waitress' has an excellent ratio of sweet to tart; supporting characters who provide crustiness and flakiness; and cooked-to-perfection staging. "'Waitress' is clearly, passionately, and for the most part delightfully a feminist musical....'Waitress' can be an uncomfortable genre mix: domestic-violence drama and workplace romcom. That’s in the source material, and the musicalization exaggerates it. What I didn’t expect is that the musical...

"Echoing a weakness in the original screen source, Paulus and Latarro could be criticized for overplaying the whimsy.
