Inspired by the film of the same name, the Broadway musical "Waitress" features songs by Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles. More…
Jenna is a waitress and expert pie maker in a small town who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life. Directed by Tony winner Diane Paulus.
See it if You’re a fan of Sara Bareilles’ music. If you enjoy the movie.
Don't see it if Looking for deep characters. With the exception of the leads, the supporting cast is one dimensional.
See it if You want to see clichéd characters and plot. One wonderful character actor role. Music sounds flat and boring and didn't resonate with me.
Don't see it if You want an exciting, fully dimensional show. Jesse Mueller has an amazing voice so that heals some of the wounds.
See it if Waitress relies to heavily on casting because the story is semi-charming but not engaging or even, at times, interesting.
Don't see it if Every cast member, not well developed, gets to sing a song or two. Like a recipe to any pie, this musical feels quite structure.
See it if You love skillful leading female roles; hilarious supporting charaters; great musical composition: She Used To Be Mine is a new classic
Don't see it if The main antagonist is underdeveloped; some “married couple scenes” run with low energy
See it if you want to be positively surprised with a nontraditional and intelligent score and good vocals. Heart-warming story and lovable characters.
Don't see it if I always want more songs. Here especially the 2nd act needs more music and less talk.
See it if you want to see a strong musical cast, an accessible show, & non-traditional Broadway music.
Don't see it if you hate it when accents get in the way of understanding the lyrics, you dislike minimalist dancing, & want to avoid simple storytelling.
See it if I saw the orig cast in 2016 & they were fantastic & I felt irreplaceable. Went back after 1400 perfs & the show is replacement-proof in 2019
Don't see it if Give songwriter Sara Bareilles the credit, her songs inspire the singers to sing their best. GO!! Jan 05, 2020 is closing date, get PIE'D!!
See it if You like catchy music and nice performances. Great cast, great singing, but only a good show. I left the theater liking it, not loving it.
Don't see it if You object to marital infidelity. The show is good, just not great. Lacks something that you can never quite place what it is.

Don't see it if you aren't willing to leave the theater craving pie
See it if You liked the movie, and don't need or want the show to be a carbon copy. Definitely see if you are a fan of Jessie Mueller.
Don't see it if You need everything wrapped up in a bow story-wise. "Happy" endings mean different things to different people.
See it if you enjoy Sarah Barielle's music and want to see an extraordinary performance from Jesse Mueller.
Don't see it if you're not into girl power.
See it if You loved the movie. Also, it has three great female leads. The score is entertaining and well sung, especially Jesse M's big number.
